Art House Dallas & Violet Crown Cinema Present a Special Screening of

Wildcat

Join us for a special screening of Wildcat, the Flannery O'Connor biopic directed by Ethan Hawke and starring Maya Hawke. This event celebrates the 100th anniversary of O'Connor's birth and honors her enduring literary legacy.

Presented in conjunction with our ORIGIN program—featuring her work in this year's anthology—the evening begins with a pre-screening conversation with Flannery O’Connor scholar Dr. Christina Bieber Lake, exploring themes of evil in O'Connor's writing and her continued cultural relevance. A reception and Q&A will follow the film, offering space to connect and reflect on O'Connor's life and work.

Whether you're a film lover, a literature fan, or simply enjoy great storytelling, this promises to be a memorable evening.

about the film

In 1950, Flannery (Maya Hawke) visits her mother Regina (Laura Linney) in Georgia when she is diagnosed with lupus at twenty-four years old. Struggling with the same disease that took her father's life when she was a child and desperate to make her mark as a great writer, this crisis pitches her imagination into a feverish exploration of belief. As she dives deeper into her craft, the lines between reality, imagination, and faith begin to blur, allowing Flannery to ultimately come to peace with her situation and heal a strained relationship with her mother.
