The Art of Music Business

The Art of Music Business

Presented by Melody of Hope and Art House Dallas

Sponsored by Maker’s Gym Frisco

Today’s artists have to master their craft, think like entrepreneurs, and market their work. It sounds like a lot—because it is. But staying faithful to the vocational call of being an artist does not have to mean going without pay.

The Art of Music Business will feature experienced and knowledgeable industry expert Brianna Ruelas. The workshop is designed to give musicians the tools and resources to excel in their work, build a business, and fulfill their calling as a creative.

Together we will explore practical topics such as entrepreneurship, streams of income for musicians, finding your visual identity as an artist, and developing a target audience.

Ticket includes access to 6 hours of teaching, complimentary headshots, journal, & lunch.

THE ART OF BUSINESS WORKSHOP OVERVIEW

SESSION ONE: Running your Business 101
Understanding business structure, taxes, budgeting, and funding sources are the bedrock of going from starving to thriving.

SESSION TWO: Visual & Brand Identity for Musicians, Including Headshots + Messaging & Fan Engagement
Finding a gap in the market requires artists to understand both the field they fit into and what makes their creative voice unique. The way artists craft the stories of their work connects them to their audience. This session will consider what it looks like to have a cohesive branding and marketing strategy and how that can be used to actively connect with your audience.

SESSION THREE: Panel with Local Music Industry Experts
Hear from a panel of local music industry professionals, including Charlie Debolt, a talent buyer for Spune, Courtney Wright, the founder of State Fair Records, and Christian Chavarria, the president of The Creatives Factory and sync licensing expert.
